So this is amazing! My wildest dreams have come true! Some of the best map makers that I’ve had the pleasure to know have decided to get on board with my patreon and contribute maps. THIS IS HUGE! It’s also a massively humbling experience for me. These are map makers that create phenomenal scenes and for them to join forces with me has really made my week.
Who are they?
Jeremy_ForeverDM, creator of Mimicmaps and winner of the first Inkarnate map competition. His maps are known for their excellent lighting and superb shadows. The ambiance he gets is second to none.
SLMumby, host of the weekly Inkarnate creativity prompt! With a background in ecology and wildlife and many studies into topography, cartography and GIS mapping systems, SLMumby is the undisputed queen of fine detail. She also brings a colourful flair to her maps, especially her urban environments!
MiauArt, also known as u/Splicex42, is a worldsmith that constantly pushes the bar higher in world creation, isometric city building and overland cartography! His background in commission work has led to him being meticulous in detail and his maps are always a spectacular addition to a campaign or game table.
For those who don’t know me, my name is Jarrad Blackburn, known as u/Hynrafoo. I am a classically trained musician with a serious love for history. For 15 years I’ve been DM’ing Role Playing games that focus on realistic settings and historically accurate social structures. In map making, my focus is on historically accurate architecture, furnishings, topography and environment. In 2014, I spent a year in Europe “castle hopping”, studying the designs of defensive medieval architecture and walking through the ruins and renovations of some of the most iconic castles in Europe.
You can see why I’m excited… this combination of artists I’ve pulled together is a diverse team that will cover all the bases of your mapping needs. We already make a fierce team.
We’ve madly been collaborating all week to bring this together. Even though I already have this patreon set up, there is a lot of work to do when you add three more people into the mix. You may have noticed a reshuffle in the google drive. Those are the folders for the new artists and will quickly be filled with their first 5 pieces each.
What does that mean for you?
1) Well… you’re going to get a LOT more content. You can imagine with 4 artists working together, you are going to get more pieces each month. They will all be posted here.
2) The quality of each piece is going to improve. We have our own channel on the discord and we’ve already been giving each other feedback on our work. With four sets of eyes going over each piece. The quality is going to be mint.
3) You are going to get a LOT more diversity. Each artist brings their own special skills to the table. Their own style.
4) Interactive creation. I’ve promised to give Soda patrons some input into the maps and get their feedback throughout the big builds. Soda patrons are still able to chat to the artists about their works in progress and make suggestions for new maps!
5) The cost of each tier… STAYS THE SAME. No extra cost. This patreon just got four times better value.
We are going to start releasing content in the next few days. I’ll start by introducing one artist and their work to shine a spotlight on them. Then another and another until you have 15 brand new maps.
